Block your time in order to spend it intentionally
Time Blocking is a simple technique with which you block a specific amount of time for a specific task (be it work or private) to focus on that task and that task only.
This works for me sometimes but not always as there is no accountability for not focusing on the thing that you blocked the time for.
It still helps me in that I have an automatic reminder to do something and it also serves as a form of Time Management, as if I have all my time blocked, I become aware of the fact, that I simply have no resources available for anything else.
There are three important things to consider when using Time Blocking:
- Try to be as true to yourself as possible and truly focus on the thing, that you blocked the time for.
- Try to be as accurate as possible with the amount of time that you block, so that it is indeed realistic to finish the thing that you blocked the time for.
- Use Time Blocking also to be unproductive as Time is not wasted by doing something "unproductive" as long as you are intentional about it.
